If You Owe Money
IRS
There are four ways to pay the IRS:
- 1) Send a check in the mail using a 1040V.
- 2) Process a direct debit through EFTPS.
- 3) Process a credit card or debit card payment through Pay1040.com or Officialpayments.com.
- 4) Enter into an Installment Agreement using Form 9465.
Note: Using a debit or credit card to pay your taxes will incur additional fees from the service provider and entering into an Installment Agreement with the IRS will incur interest.
State of Minnesota
As with the IRS, there are four ways to pay the Minnesota Department of Revenue:
- 1) Send a check in the mail using a M60.
- 2) Process a direct debit through Minnesota DOR website.
- 3) Process a credit card or debit card payment through Minnesota DOR website.
- 4) Enter into an Installment Agreement using the Minnesota DOR website.
Note: As with the IRS, using a debit or credit card to pay your state taxes will incur additional charges and entering into an installment agreement will incur interest. Also, you must wait until the State of Minnesota sends you a letter to enter into the installment agreement.
